Ronnie Danaher
Party Tram 2, 2024UV Print on Brushed Steel60 x 40 cmRonnie Danaher is an artist and filmmaker working with moving image, digital technology and sculptural installations to explore the sacred in the digital world. Her work is informed by the humour and pressures of her experience growing up in a large Catholic family, and the internet as a space to prototype alternative identities and systems of belief.Recurring themes include the sacred, liminality, screen time, purgatory, internet echo chambers, the eternal scroll on social media, Irish heritage, guilt and shame, as part of an ongoing research project investigating and collaging the interconnections between digital culture and belief systems.Based in Leeds, Danaher is a studio holder at East Street Arts. Residencies include Fabbrica del Vapore with BJCEM, Milan 2024, New Artist Collective with UK New Artists, 2022/23; Hotel Generation with arebyte Gallery, 2020; The Art House, Wakefield, 2020; and upcoming at Dos Mares, Marseille. Awards include Developing Your Creative Practice from Arts Council England 2023-24, as well as National Lottery Project Grant for her solo exhibition iConfess at Assembly House, Leeds, 2022.
