An abstract giant, or Cyclopes, overlooks the strait, with feet overlapping the cliff edge. The light, childlike marks evoke innocence, yet the dark, turbulent waters suggest a perilous boundary, hinting at the dangers and bureaucracy that separate worlds.
Ziyi Wang 王几 (b.1999) is an artist and researcher from Beijing, China, currently working in London. As a millennial navigating the complexities of a trans-migrant existence, she employs humour as a method to challenge established systems, borders, and bureaucracy. Wang's practice are mainly video installations, blending elements of documentary, comedy, and ready-made props, usually stemming from her personal fragility and the intricate exploration of her identity as an Asian female artist. With structural reflection and literary narration, Wang’s work connects with a larger framework of fluidity, reflecting the contemporary ethical landscape shaped by globalisation, post-colonialism, and the evolving policies surrounding migration. Wang graduated from Slade School of Fine Art with MA Fine Art (2024) and Beijing Normal University majoring Philosophy (2022).
